In an effort to improve the visibility and coordination of the already existing bioinformatics services at the CNB, the director of the center has promoted the creation of the Bioinformatics initiative. The mission of this initiative is to conduct collaborative research and to provide coordinated analysis services to all research groups at the CNB. The Bioinformatics initiative is composed by four different services:
- Computational Genomics: This service is part of the Genomics unit and provides bioinformatics support for the analysis, visualization and interpretation of Genomics-related projects, including microarrays and next generation sequencing. Contact person: Juan Carlos Oliveros. http://bioinfogp.cnb.csic.es
- Sequence Analysis and Structure prediction service: Provides bioinformatics support in sequence and structural prediction topics. Contact person: Monica Chagoyen. http://pdg.cnb.csic.es/bioservice_en.html
- Scientific Computing Service: Covers general scientific data analysis needs of CNB and maintenance of the national EMBnet node. Contact person: Jose Ramon Valverde. http://sci.cnb.csic.es/
- Computational Proteomics: This service is part of Proteomics Facility and provides interpretation, validation and reporting of data derived from Proteomics experiments. Contact person: Alberto Medina. http://proteo.cnb.csic.es
- Functional Analysis: his service is part of Functional Bioinformatics group and provides functional analysis of high-throughput experiments like microarrays and next generation sequencing studies. Contact person: Alberto Pascual Montano. http://bioinfo.cnb.csic.es
- Statistical Analysis: This service provides statistical support and consultancy. From experimental design to complex statistcial data analysis. Contact person: Carlos Oscar Sanchez Sorzano http://biocomp.cnb.csic.es/~coss
